Amaka Ekwegh - Author

A Children’s Author, Civil Servant and Champion of Identity

Amaka, also known as Amy, is the author of Dodie the Donkey, a heartfelt story that encourages children to embrace their uniqueness and build true, lasting friendships. A dedicated civil servant with over a decade’s experience in employment and training, Amaka brings insight and compassion into her storytelling.

Her journey into children’s literature was sparked by her childhood love for imaginative writing and has evolved into a mission to support positive identity formation in young readers. Through Dodie the Donkey, she offers an inclusive narrative that celebrates difference and fosters empathy.

Amaka has been an active member of the Kiddie-Writers forum, handling CALFE’s bookstall at the Manchester venue. She first presented her book as a digital resource during CALFE’s online event in 2023, launching it into animation, and engaging children with visual storytelling. She is currently scripting her  second book, in continuing her commitment to entertaining young readers through literature.
